As a Backend Developer at Focal, you'll be part of the early team building customer-facing solutions to our product using the latest technologies.

The Position

We are looking for a backend (or full-stack) developer who will help us scale Focal to thousands of modern creative teams across the globe.

As a backend engineer at Focal, you will:

• Help redefine the "creative ops" space by inventing new collaboration experiences
• Build new user-facing solutions into the Focal app using Node, TypeScript, Redis and Postgres
• Write high-quality backend code that is performant, well tested and versatile
• Incrementally enhance the product via experiments & user behavior/metrics
• Collaborate directly with FE developers to construct robust exhanges between BE/FE environments
• Engineer efficient micro services that can help scale Focal's backend
• Work closely with interesting customers and get fast feedback
• Open-source any non-trivial innovations that come out of our work on the product

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work experience in building backend Node web applications
• Excellent communication skills. You must be able to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with tech' and non-tech' audiences
• Experience with TypeScript and backend testing
• A CS or Engineering degree is also a plus
